TomTom Licenses to Mappy Traffic Data service

TomTom Licenses to Mappy Traffic Data serviceOne more news from TomTom. The company announced a multiyear agreement with Mappy (French web portal giving mapping service online) to provide digital maps and dynamic traffic information several days ago. TomTom traffic product is a novelty for the Mappy in spite of the fact that Mappy has been using Tele Atlas maps for many years.

From the near future Mappy users will have access to traffic information for highways and roads from 13 European countries. Up to now Mappy company takes its traffic information from Autoroute Trafic (French provider). The service will be fully implemented beginning of August 2011.

The free Mappy mobile applications will have the TomTom traffic information too. But the mobile navigation application, Mappy GPS, that is developed by NDrive with NAVTEQ maps, will not have this service.

Mappy had 65 million visits on its mapping portal in the first quarter of 2011, a 11.9% more over the same period the previous year. On mobile Mappy has more than 3 million users across iPhone, Android, bada and its mobile website.
