Operational system AndroidOperational system Android has been developed by company Android Inc. Representatives of company Google have made out advantages given to OS and have redeemed it. Then google have acted as initiators for creation of business - alliance Open Handset Alliance (OHA). This alliance has been created on November, 5-th, 2007. It consists from 47 members, among them manufacturers of electronics, software developers, cellular operators and manufacturers of microchips.

What is Android

Android is operational system for compact devices. It can be used on smartfones, communikators, tablet pc, personal media - players and many other portable electronic devices. OS Android has an open initial code. It is based on nucleus Linux, and it means, that it is possible freely and to use it free-of-charge.
Due to that developers of company Google have created special libraries, all programmers can create various appendices for it on Java. Special complex Android Native Development Kit enables programmers to create the additional software on C and other programming languages.

This OS can be established on devices with processors: ARM, x86, MIPS and POWER.

Besides it is substantially integrated with Google firm services.

First version Android 1.0 is developed on nucleus Linux 2.6.25.It has been released on September, 23 2008. It has been updated on February, 9 2009 and as a result there was version Android 1.1 (Bender) which is based on nucleus Linux 2.6.25.

Official updating therefore has been released and new version Android 1.5 (Cupcake) has appeared on April, 30 2009. The set of changes and additions has been made in this version:
* An opportunity of record and viewing of video in a mode of the camera
* Sending video on YouTube and a photo on service Picasa directly from a phone
* The new program keyboard with function of autofilling
* Support Bluetooth of structure A2DP (because of which as appeared, phones have ceased to work with many popular sets and Bluetooth-modules of automobiles)
* An opportunity of automatic connection to Bluetooth taking place on the certain distance
* Animation at switching between windows
* The expanded opportunities of copying and inserting

The next version of operational system Android 1.6 (Donut) has left on September, 15, 2009. It is based on nucleus Linux 2.6.29. Innovations of the given version:

* Work with shop of appendices Android Market is improved
* The interface for work from photo and videocamera, and also the interface of gallery are integrated
* The gallery now allows to choose some objects for removal
* Function Voice Search was updated, speed of work was increased, integration with the basic apps, including an opportunity of a voice set of number also was improved
* The updated function of the search, allowing to conduct search among bookmarks, histories, contacts, and also search in the Internet from the main screen
* Support CDMA/EVDO, 802.1x, VPN, managements of gestures, and also functions of Text-to-speech were updated
* Support of resolutions WVGA
* Speed of work of search and the camera speed were increased

The new version of OS Android 2.0 (Eclair) has been released on October, 26 2009. It is based on nucleus Linux 2.6.29. The given version has received the following changes and additions:

* Speed of work is optimized
* Support of a lot of the sizes of the screen and resolutions
* The updated user interface
* The new user interface of a web - browser and support HTML5
* The new list of contacts
* Improved Google maps version 3.1.2
* Support Microsoft Exchange
* Support of the built - in flash (for the camera)
* Digital increase (for the camera)
* The improved virtual keyboard
* Bluetooth 2.1
* "Alive" (animated) wall-paper
* Auto-updating apps
* Application Error Reports - it is possible to send the developer the report on mistakes in the app
* New opportunities of the camera (support of buttons "zoom", a portrait mode) and so on

Version OS Android 2.2 (Froyo) which is based on nucleus Linux 2.6.32 has been released on May, 20 2010. Additions of the given version:
* Support Adobe Flash 10.1
* Integration with Microsoft Exchange
* Compiler Dalvik JIT
* Faster and productive browser
* Functions of the modem and a point of access Wi-Fi
* New "hot" keys on the starting screen
* An opportunity of apps installation on a card of memory
* Auto-updating apps
* Application Error Reports - it is possible to send the developer the report on mistakes in the app
* New opportunities of the camera (support of buttons "zoom", a portrait mode) and so on

LAST version FOR TODAY OS Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which is based on nucleus Linux 2.6.35.7 has been released on December, 6 2010. Changes which have touched the given version:
The confirmed changes of the given version:
* The user interface is updated
* Support Near Field Communication is added
* Support of reproduction of videoformat WebM is added
* Copying the text is improved
* Optimization of work with games and increase in game productivity of OS
* Replacement of file system YAFFS by ext4

The nonvalidated changes of the given version:

* Purchase of music in Android Market
* Reproduction of media - files from library of a computer a stream
* The optimized user interface
* Support of videobells
* Optimization under use in tablets

The future versions of OS Android is 3.0 (Honeycomb). The start is preliminary planned by the beginning of 2011 (Ice Cream), start is preliminary planned for the middle of 2011.
